UDR: An Approximate Unbiased Difference-Ratio Edge Detector for SAR Images

Edge detection is a critical component of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image interpretation. Due to serious speckle noise, the core problems for SAR edge are how keep constant false alarm rate (CFAR) and achieve unbiased localization edges. Aiming at these problems, this article proposes novel detector with unique structure noise-contaminated images, which creatively integrates difference operation ratio (hence named as “UDR: difference-ratio” detector). Theoretical analysis proves that effectively affords UDR ability both ideal nonideal edges, provides property CFAR under influence noise. Experimental results on simulated real-world images demonstrate proposed detection, insensitive changes contrast, width transition zone noise level. Benefited from superior precision insensitivity average true positive improved 95%, outperforming compared state-of-the-art methods.
